Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you all got to your destinations, and were able to spend quality time with your family, and friends.
On the eve of travelling north to spend Christmas with my family in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia.
Just in time to sabotage my plans Northern Beaches, Sydney had an outbreak of Covid 19. There was a great deal of angst leading up to my departure day, and day of travel.
Queensland Boarder Crossing |
The last minute acquisition of a Queensland Boarder Pass, and
accommodation changes to enable me to pass over the boarder as quick as possible, to circumvent any possible full boarder closure.
I can report all worked out well and boarder crossing went without a hitch, and my nervous ulcer can now rest in peace.
I stayed the first night in Caloundra a fab destination, the temperature stays about the same all year round, beaches, cafes, rainforest. What more can you want.
If in Caloundra, the Golden Beach Tavern will deliver great meals at reasonable prices, and is situated within walking distance of accommodation, and transport.
The next leg of my journey was an early start to beat the heat, and the intention of stopping 2 hours down the road in Childers, in the Bundaberg region of Queensland.
Eggs Benedict, Childers |
Gureng Gureng is spoken by the Dundaburra people's the traditional owners of the Childers area who are part of the Kabi Kabi tribes of Wide Bay Burnett in the northern most area.
Childers is a picturesque little town looking over rich red soil (volcanic) country with a population of 1584 people.
This fairy tale town has heaps of history, and again, its one of my fav places to make a stop to eat or shop.
Kale Centro is just the place to grab a reasonably priced breakfast or lunch, food is fresh and tasty, and staff are friendly.
